Off-Time Policy for Optometrists and Frontline Staff

Off-Time Policy for Optometrists and Frontline Staff

At Optique, we understand the importance of work-life balance and the need for our frontline staff and optometrists to enjoy time off for Saturdays and public holidays worked.

To ensure a smooth operation, we have established the following off-time policy.

Specifications

  • A Saturday worked will equate to an afternoon off from 12:30
  • A public holiday hours worked [8:30 – 13:00] will equate to a full day off

Eligibility

  • This policy applies to all frontline staff and optometrists.
  • Off time should not fall on days that coincide with month-end [24th – 5th] or between the 13th and 16th of each month.
  • Optometrists may combine two afternoons owed to create one whole day off for Saturdays worked, provided that the time off is taken within the guidelines mentioned above. The reasoning is that booking a locum for one whole day is more beneficial than booking a locum for an afternoon.

Planning Off-time

  • Off-time should be planned and discussed within a practice team to ensure that the ordinary course of business is not negatively affected by the chosen days/times.
  • The team is encouraged to work together to minimise the impact on our service levels.
  • Off-time may not be taken by frontline staff on Mondays
  • Off-time should be submitted for approval per practice to the HR Manager 7 days before time is taken off
  • 16 hours of locum hours will be made available per practice; all locum bookings should be submitted for approval to the HR Manager 7 days before taking time off

Fair Usage Policy

  • We trust our team to use this policy responsibly and fairly.
  • Excessive or inappropriate use of this policy may result in a review by HR and management.

Optique is committed to providing a work environment that supports the well-being of our team members. This off-day policy strikes a balance between our operational needs and your time.
